2023 Solstice Soirée Supported by Innova logo

Celebrating the longest days of of the year the Solstice Soirée Supported by Innova PDGA B-Tier disc golf tournament starts later than normal and provides multiple frisbee events for maximum fun and camaraderie. On-site camping, Bed & Breakfast lodging, food, beer, snacks, water and more on a gorgeous ranch at around 8000 feet elevation near Red Feather Lakes, CO about 45 minutes northwest of Fort Collins and about 2 hours north of Denver.

June is absolutely gorgeous with wildflowers & green everywhere but can also be wet and you never really know what weather will be in the next 10 minutes. I’ll provide course updates as often as I can but just be prepared for anything along with study shoes, as well as an unforgettable weekend in the beautiful northern Colorado mountains. There is a nice fire ring right by tournament central which would be an excellent opportunity for jams or sing-a-longs Saturday night. Nothing electric please, but bring your guitar if you’re repertoire includes songs most people would know and love to sing.  The largest wildfire in Colorado history ripped through the area near Sundance Trail in 2020 so absolutely no personal campfires at your campsite. Small backpacking camp stoves are ok, if not ordering food during registration.

In addition to the two-round PDGA B-Tier sanctioned disc golf tournament, extra fun Putting Competition, Glow Round and Accuracy Challenge events plus a 9-Hole Mini Disc Golf Course will be available to play at your own pace all weekend long. Half of those entry fees go directly to the official tournament charity, Wildlands Restoration Volunteers. Learn more about them below. The Putting Competition is actually two rounds with a finals round just after the Sunday PDGA B-Tier round, just before the awards ceremony.

As always to help grow the sport, all women and junior divisions get to register a week earlier than everyone else. Then multiple early registration tiers get first access before regular registration opens for all divisions. Take advantage of the Bed & Breakfast Lodging early registration special discount on DG Scene April 18-24, 2023 to save $25 off a room per person! The TD manages all camping and lodging through DG scene where you will note if you prefer a room in the main lodge or a cabin.

Juniors will play the glow-round course twice right next to camping and lodging, but must be accompanied by an adult not playing in the tournament. Please add note of accompanying adult’s name and phone in the notes of the junior player registrant. Or use the SUP-Supporter Division. Either way the non-playing accompanying adult with a registered junior player will automatically receive a complimentary two-day course pass as well as a free ranch dinner Saturday evening. The accompanying parent(s) also have access to all the extra fun events too.

Feel free to reach out to Sundance Trail Guest Ranch anytime before or after the tournament weekend to stay in one of the main lodge rooms or cabins for weekend to practice. Maybe let the kids go horseback riding while you play the amazing mountain disc golf course, then go fishing in one of the Red Feather Lakes. PeaceJames Co events are the only time Sundance allows on-site camping. Here is a link to their website for contact info and more information: https://www.sundancetrail.com

This is a link to the 2021 Solstice Soiree website to see how much fun it was, including a photo album for both days from Conrad Meyer.

CAMPING / LODGING

There will be on-site tent camping, 30 total beds in shared rooms and space for a couple RV’s available through DG Scene registration. Every single person who is staying on the property overnight needs to register and pay for either a camping or B&B Lodging Pass. This will give you a vehicle pass as well to keep in your car. This is our low grade but effective security to ensure we have information for everyone in our group in case there is an emergency. The largest wildfire in Colorado history happened near Sundance Trail in 2020. Absolutely no personal fires at your campsite at all! We will allow very small self-contained gas camp stoves like the backpacking kind.

If you need to register a caddy or friend who is staying on the property overnight, use the SUP Non-Playing Supporter division on DG Scene. They will also need the Caddy/Friend Course Pass which is valid for both days. The B&B lodging is first-come first-served in the main lodge or one of the cabins and does indeed including breakfast Sunday morning so no need to pay for that unless you want to order seconds, before hand. Take advantage of the early B&B registration special for $25 off per person. Please contact the TD if you need handicap accessible room(s) which are available, bringing an RV or trailer or prefer your own room and we’ll see what we can work it out. matt@peacejames.co I’m taking care of all the lodging and food reservations through the DG Scene tournament registration site.
